Aye to the Sky
Inspired by the weekend woodworker Blake Weber’s exquisite Sunrise Hall Table, Aye to the Sky is a special piece for Wavecrest Woodcraft, as it was the first of our products we had enough confidence in to sell.
Produced using nine layers of sustainably-sourced birch ply, carefully cut and painstakingly stained before being lovingly laminated, each assembly of Aye to the Sky acts an ode to the immeasurable majesty of nature. From the depth of the mountain range that occupies the forefront of this multi-layered mandala to the drama of the art deco-inspired sun that hovers between the hills and the spectacular canvas of the sky, this unique piece is sure to prove a talking point in your household.
Formats / Options
Aye to the Sky is only available in landscape orientation, measuring 430mm wide by 275mm high, with a depth of approximately 27mm across its nine total layers.
An optional protective plate made of clear 3mm acrylic can be affixed to the front of the piece with several beautiful brass screws, the better to prevent dust ingress and accidental damage.
Other
Please note that the pictures illustrating this listing are of a single specimen of Aye to the Sky, and while we take measures to ensure consistency from one run to another, you can expect your item to feature some slight variance. But that, in no small part, is what makes these pieces so special: the uniqueness of the natural wood grain and the consequential intensity of the stains and dyes we apply means that every completed piece we produce truly is one-of-a-kind.
Plans are available in the shop if you fancy trying your hand at making your own version of Aye to the Sky. You may also be interested in our other natural landscapes, not least The Great Wave.
